We've had birds nesting in the top of our bamboo shade on our patio all summer. When they first started flying around looking for a place, the DPR immediately ran out to chase them away spouting opinions on how they were going to die out there if they built a nest because as soon as we turn on the AC it will be too hot....yada, yada...
They built a nest anyway, regardless of his opinions. Then they did their birdy thing and before you can say "yumpin' yiminy" their were 3 little eggs in the nest. Honestly, I didn't pay that much attention after that....until the end of July. The little birdies were all busy and focused and I pretty much felt the same.

When we got home, I went to hang the lanterns on my patio. I was dreaming of seeing the colored glass in the sunlight. There.... I found the empty nest.
And I realized, it was really....really empty.
(sigh).

So sweet Denise! We are glad we were able to be part of all the fun. You did an amazing job as always. Yeah for Mattie and Jon!
Congratulations to Mattie and Jon and thank you for the adorable announcement. Photos indicate that the wedding came off in typical cool McConnell fashion; you guys should be in a magazine!
Enjoy the empty nest and count your blessings, because life is good and sweet! Call us the next time you're in town and we'll do dinner!

those pictures all look gorgeous!!
I think you should have posted a warning label on this post. My heart is really looking at this post as a broken heart. Of course I'm thrilled with Maddie and all the amazing happiness that you have for your family, but wow...a real empty nest? Wow... I'm one who dosen't like amazing things to end...mostly stories and music. I fight with myself to not allow it to end...but there must be an end. I can understand it, but it heart breaking. You little capture of the empty nest...well I know my nest is very full right now, but this is a real but...I'm struggling with the idea that this number 7 could be the last. Again this is an ending that now one understands except for my Heavenly Father. But wow, my endings...it is difficult to realize that I'll never hold my round belly again, never feel a kick again, or never feel the amazing experience of labor, delivery, and that first kiss of the baby. I know...things all must end, but ouchy...my heart is really breaking here. Thanks, I had to tell someone.
Yay for those Pictures! Oh, and if you want Daniel and I could move in again. :)
