D Day

 We spent last night in the city of Bayeaux.  It had some interesting buildings, but we didn't have a lot of time for exploring.  By the time we got there, we were all really tired, and didn't do much but lay around.  We woke to full on fog, and geared up for a wet one today.  We went to the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial.   It was quite emotional really.  These were some brave boys. 

 The fog made it quite somber.

 The view to Omaha Beach was hardly visible....disappointing.

But we drove down to the beach so that the DPR could collect some sand, and could 

see a bit better.

This was an important day for him.

We stopped to look at some old cars that were parked down by the beach....

totally made me feel like we were in a movie about WWII.

 The weather has turned from drizzly to plain wet....but we have been determined to keep moving with our plans and travels.  We drove to Honfleur for the afternoon and to have lunch.

Honfleur is a sea town that is quite lovely, regardless of all the tourists.  

The flags were waving and helped to soften my attitude about the weather.

We sat at a table right on the pier to eat lunch.  So pretty....and I even had the courage to try oysters!

(Slimy...yet satisfying.)

Take me to a garden

After my intense day yesterday, we drove to a wonderful little B&B just outside of Giverny. It was just what the doctor ordered...just so peaceful and we woke this morning by birds singing outside our window....I am serious.

We headed off to Claude Monet's Garden at Giverny.

I needed this day!  I prayed for a day like today!  Thank Heaven they were listening upstairs....

 

I love that they used the espaliar trees as a fence!  So Spectacular!

I love the archway!

I can just image painting in this lovely studio!

I love the floors and the kitchen....

You know how I am with blue and white tile!  It just is my favorite!!!
